Righto Tax

Cookie notice

Draft. This version is still being finalised and will be confirmed before our service opens. Version 0.1. 15 October 2026.

1. What this notice covers

This notice covers cookies and similar technologies on rightotax.co.uk: small files or pieces of data stored in your browser, local storage, and scripts that read information from your device. It explains which ones we use and why.

In short: we use only what the site needs to work, plus simple statistics about how the site is used. We don't use advertising cookies. We don't track you across other websites, and we never sell data.

righto.device_id (local storage, client portal only)Strictly necessaryA random number that identifies your browser, and nothing about you. This shows us what to fix. It sets nothing on your device and does not follow you to other sites. The daily totals do not identify anyone; the raw server logs they are made from include IP addresses and are deleted after 400 days.Raw logs deleted after 400 days; daily totals kept

The names and periods in this table are checked against the live site before each release.

3. Statistics and your choices

Our statistics set no cookie and put nothing on your device, so there is nothing to switch off in your browser. They are daily totals worked out from the standard logs our web server keeps for every visit. If you object to your visits being counted, email us and we will deal with your objection under data protection law.

Your browser can block or delete cookies, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop sign-in and payment working.

4. Other websites

Links to other websites, such as gov.uk or HMRC, take you to sites with their own cookie rules. We do not control those.

5. Changes and contact

We will update this notice if what we use changes. Questions: hello@rightotax.co.uk. Our privacy notice at rightotax.co.uk/privacy explains how we use personal data more generally.
