Righto Tax

Refer the small trades clients that don’t fit your practice

Making Tax Digital turns a once-a-year return into quarterly updates plus the year-end return. Since 6 April 2026, it applies to sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income was over £50,000 on their 2024-25 tax return. Otherwise, from 6 April 2027, it applies to sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income was over £30,000 on their 2025-26 tax return. Otherwise, from 6 April 2028, it applies to sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income was over £20,000 on their 2026-27 tax return. For a small sole trader, that can cost more to service than they can pay. Righto Tax does that work at a fixed monthly price.

Opening soon. The referral programme isn’t open yet. The terms on this page are what we plan to offer; the final terms are agreed in writing with each practice. Tax plans start once our HMRC registrations are complete.

Why refer them to us

We never poach

We only take the clients you send. We never approach the rest of your clients.

No passwords

Each client approves our HMRC authorisation request themselves. We never ask for anyone’s HMRC password.

Fixed price for them

Trades Tax is £35 a month: fixed monthly price, cancel online. A one-off tax return is £99. Prices include VAT.

A share of their fees

Planned terms: 25% of each referred client’s fees for their first twelve months, agreed in writing with each practice.

Who fits

  • Self-employed sole traders, UK resident, including CIS subcontractors
  • Landlords with one to four properties in England
  • Straightforward records that come through a bank account

Anyone who needs something on the list below stays with you.

What we do

  • Build the client’s digital records from their connected business bank and card accounts, plus anything they upload: cash income, CIS statements, receipts.
  • Sort transactions into HMRC’s categories, ask the client about anything unclear, and treat anything personal as personal.
  • Prepare each Making Tax Digital quarterly update, show it to the client and submit it once they confirm. The deadlines are 7 August, 7 November, 7 February and 7 May.
  • Prepare the annual tax return, show the client the calculation, and file once they confirm.
  • Record the CIS deductions on the contractors’ payment and deduction statements, check them against what was paid into the bank, and include them on the return.
  • Tell the client what tax and payments on account are due, and when.

What we don’t do

  • Partnerships or limited companies
  • CIS contractor returns, for clients who pay subcontractors
  • Payroll
  • Capital gains, foreign income, trusts or estates
  • HMRC enquiries, investigations, disputes or appeals
  • Tax planning, or personal recommendations on investments, pensions or legal matters
  • Auditing or independently checking the records a client gives us

Righto Tax uses automated software, including AI, to prepare each client’s records. The company’s director is accountable for the service, and the client checks and confirms every figure before anything is sent to HMRC.

How the hand-back works

  1. Out of scope: if a client you referred needs something we don’t do, we tell them, and point them back to you.
  2. Leaving us: when a client leaves, we finish any submission they have already confirmed, if there is time, and tell them what deadlines are coming up. Then we stop acting as their agent and remove our HMRC authorisation.
  3. Their records: the client can download all their records free of charge. If they move to a new adviser, we send that adviser their records promptly, normally within 10 working days, at no charge.
