What is a CIS payment and deduction statement? It is the record a contractor must give you within 14 days of each tax month, for example by 19 June 2026 for the month to 5 June. It shows your gross pay, materials and CIS deducted. Within 14 days of the end of each tax month. A tax month runs from the 6th to the 5th, so the statement is due by the 19th. For the tax month 6 May to 5 June, that is 19 June. Yes, if you both agree and it comes in a form you can store and print, such as a PDF. CIS 340 also allows one statement per payment instead of one per month. There is no legal duty to give one when no deduction is made. HMRC's CIS 340 guide calls it good practice, so ask for one if it helps your records. Read the full answer, with every source, at rightotax.co.uk.
